Serving others has always been part of my life, and I am confident that it always will be. I was raised to be grateful for what I have been given. That has translated into being grateful that I can give something in return. One way I have made a positive impact is by volunteering at the Avon Walk to End Breast Cancer for the past NINE years.
The Avon Walk event is near and dear to my heart. I have done everything from setting up the event, walking 39.3 miles in two days, and personally raising over $9,900 to end breast cancer. Each year I meet so many amazing people who have all been affected by breast cancer. I am devoted to the cause because another person in the US is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and I want to find a cure to end it.
My most influential role has been serving as the Youth Crew Team Leader. The Youth Crew is a group of sixteen dedicated and energetic kids who help run the event, cheer on walkers until their voices are hoarse, and each raise at least $500 for the cause. It is a blessing to get to work with such inspirational kids who already want to make a difference in the world at such a young age. My job is to keep the team motivated and help them reach their goals. I love volunteering in this position most because my service goes beyond just working to end breast cancer. I get to inspire kids to be servant-hearted just as someone once did for me.
I want to continue the impact I have made and raise even more money for this amazing cause. EVERY DOLLAR donated goes to breast cancer research, prevention, and treatment. Please consider making a donation! One person can help everyone, but everyone can help someone.
