On June 3rd and 4th, for the eight consecutive year, I will be among thousands of people dedicating their weekend to walking as part of the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. We'll walk a marathon (26.2 miles) on day one and a half marathon (13.1 mi.) on day two.
For the last seven years I have walked with my daughter in honor of my kindergarten friend Caroline Markham (a thirteen year breast cancer survivor) and in memory of our dear friend Alice Clevenger. Both Alice and Caroline were diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer sixteen years ago. They touched our lives in ways we cannot measure. Sadly, Alice Clevenger died on March 23rd, 2011. We will be walking in her memory, with her in our hearts, each step of the way.
My goal is to raise over $10,000. Please help to support our efforts and the breast cancer cause by making a contribution - big or small -every dollar helps. You can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message, which will bring you to our page where you can learn more about our reasons for walking. I am hoping to have my eight year total exceed $80,000. I know with your help we can do it!
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the “Donate By Mail” button and follow the instructions on the form.
Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives. Need any more reason to click that Donate Now button?
