As you know, my name is Tracy Powell. What you may not know- I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014. When I first heard the word cancer, I thought my world was about to end, just as it was begining again- you see I had just gotten re-married 6 months prior. Cancer was the reason I had been a widow and I didn't want to leave my new husband a widower-I was scared. I had great support and doctors. I had a double mastecomy and then later I have had recontruction via a D-Flap. My journey has not been easy- none of our journeys are. I decided I had to do something to help support others and help find answers to this disease- that is where AVON39 came in.
My first year with Avon 39, I was just 10 days out of my reconstruction surgery- I tried to walk and walked what I could. I was proud of the women and men that I saw along the route. My second year, I was ready to walk, then I had to have knee surgery - so I decided I still had to help, so I became a volunteer in the sweep cars. My friend and I helped to pick up and motivate walkers along the route. What I joy and great feeling I received. Since my knee is still healing, this year, I again will be picking up wearing walkers.
We need YOUR help! We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost. We see a world without breast cancer for our daughters and nieces. AVON 39 is a force of change that can’t be stopped. By supporting me with a donation, you’re part of it. So, please consider a donation- any size is apprecaited and much needed. Thank you for taking the time and reading my story.
