This is my 19th year and 23rd walk in the fight against breast cancer. I’ve lost track of the training miles I’ve walked and the number of shoes I’ve worn out. For those of you who support me every year, you are the wind at my back and the wings on my feet. Thank you for your continued support and generosity. Your support means the world to me and to all the women and men for whom I walk in Honor and Memory. For those of you who are donating for the first time, welcome to a very important cause in my life! The Avon 39 Walks not only raise needed funds, but they also raise awareness and hope for those fighting breast cancer.
Over the years the Avon 39 Walks have helped fund the development of newer and better treatments and medications to help extend and improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients, but there is still no cure! The money raised also helps fund community programs, and services for those who are underserved and underinsured. Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives and 80% of the funds raised benefit LOCAL hospitals, clinics, and programs. The money is dispersed at Closing Ceremonies! Need any more reason to make a donation???
On Sept. 9-10, 2017, I am again walking in the Santa Barbara Avon 39. This 2-Day, 39.3 mile walk will help to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with breast cancer, but I can’t do it without your help! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation. Please help me support the fight against breast cancer by giving generously to help meet my $18,000 pledge goal. Help me surpass this goal as you have in years past! I will continue to walk, wear out shoes, and lose toenails until there is a cure!
To make a fully, tax deductible donation, go to ElviaIreneKelly and click the Donate to Elvia Irene button. If you are making a donation by check, please mail it by NO LATER than August 31, 2017. If you would like to add a name to either the Walking to Honor and Celebrate or Walking to Remember lists below, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
