Dear family and friends,
This year I am participating in my 8th AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer. I plan to walk it until I can't, for all of those affected by this horrible disease. Every year, with your help, I am able to qualify. I cannot explain how thankful I am for your continued support.
As most of you know, my mom had breast cancer when I was a kid and she had a mastectomy. I'll never forget when I found out, and ran around the block to Jillian's house where we sat outside her house for a while, completely clueless and lost. I was angry, I resented my mom, I didn't understand why an 11 year old could have possibly lost her mom. Worst of all, I couldn't do anything to change it, I couldn't take the pain away. It wasn't until years later, in 2009 when I learned that there was some way to give back, some way to actually help. That's when I did my first walk and it was life changing. Thousands of people were joined together in the fight, and it felt amazing. I walked with survivors, I walked with fighters, I walked with those undergoing chemo, and could not believe my eyes and ears at the closing ceremony when we all were able to find out exactly where our money went.
This year I will walk again for all of us, all of those affected by breast cancer, and for my mom, my friend Sarah, "D", and my Aunt Michaline. From now until AVON 39 weekend, I’ll train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I’ll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
I am required to raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39. My goal is $3,000.00, but I plan to raise much, much more! I hope that I can count on your support!
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the “Donate By Mail” button and follow the instructions on the form.
Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives.
I’m walking with thousands of other 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost. We see a world without breast cancer for our daughters, and nieces. We see a world without breast cancer for all men affected. AVON 39 is a force of change that can’t be stopped. By supporting me with a donation, you’re part of it.
Thank you so very much!
