The Avon Walk is also a chance for me to brag about my amazing mother. I lucked out in the mom department. My mom, Jackie, showed unconditional love and support. She had an amazing laugh- it was contagious. She gave great big bear hugs- I always looked forward to those on a visit home. She was crafty- she loved sewing, cross stitch, and helping with anything artsy. She was thoughtful- for the 100 days leading up to my wedding she gave me a small gift everyday, little odds and ends to get me started. She was my biggest fan- always at my performances. She was my shopping partner- we knew our way around a mall. My mom was my mom but also my friend. I always knew she was a strong woman but I did not realize JUST how strong until she was diagonosed with breast cancer in early 2006. My mom fought the battle all the while working and being supermom. The cancer was just too strong and she was taken from us in April of 2007. I honestly feel like I lost a piece of my heart that day,
My mom had talked about walking the Avon Walk when she beat cancer. I took the steps for her in 2008 in DC with Alexis by my side. In 2010, my brother, Scott, joined Alexis and I as we formed team CHUGS FOR JUGS! In 2014, Debbie and Desiree joined the group in Charlotte. And in 2016, we all walked again in Boston. Now I will be participating in AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer in San Francisco. It won't be easy, but that's why it's worth it. From now until AVON 39 weekend, I'll train to strengthen my body to walk over 39 miles in two days. I'll also be raising funds to crush breast cancer. This is where you come in.
I am required to raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39, but I plan to raise much, much more! I hope that I can count on your support!
You can make a donation right here on my webpage by clicking the "Donate Now" button to the right. If you prefer to write a check, click the "Donate By Mail" button and follow the instructions on the form. Feel free to donate towards our team, CHUGS FOR JUGS as well!
Your donations will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The dollars you pledge will put food on the table of a breast cancer patient and her family. They will enable access to mammograms and medicine, fuel research, and save lives. Need any more reason to click that Donate Now button?
I'm walking with thousands of other 39ers. We're banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost. We see a world without breast cancer for our daughters and nieces. AVON 39 is a force of change that can't be stopped. By supporting me with a donation, you're part of it. Please help me honor my mom and make a change for the future!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
